At GS Plant Foods, everything we make is rooted in a lifelong passion for plants—and shaped by years of trial and discovery.
I’m Francis, and with my partner Jeff, we run this small but dedicated plant nutrition business from our place in Central Florida—a region known for its thriving orchid-growing community.
My journey began with a love for growing bonsais, orchids, tomatoes, and vegetables. Like many hobby gardeners, I tested countless plant foods—commercial mixes, insider blends, secret grower formulas—always chasing better results. Some worked. Most didn’t.
That’s what inspired us to create plant feeds that truly perform—natural, reliable, and made for growers who care.
The Turning Point
When I first started growing orchids, I quickly hit a wall. No matter what I tried, I couldn’t get them to re-bloom. I thought I had a green thumb — turns out, orchids had other plans.
That all changed one day when I was chatting with a local commercial grower. She shared a simple but powerful recipe for orchid food made from natural ingredients and told me, “Just try it.” I did — and the results were incredible.
Not only did my orchids bounce back, they absolutely thrived. This recipe contained things I was previously unfamiliar with- organic ingredients like Kelp and liquid fish. This started me on a deep dive learning about these wonderful alternatives to the traditional, harsh chemical fertilizers. The result is our ever expanding line of products that are used on lawns, gardens, golf courses, ranches and farms across America!
